STEM Ambassadors are volunteers from a wide range of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) related jobs and disciplines across the UK. They offer their time and enthusiasm to help bring STEM subjects to life and demonstrate the value of them in life and careers.

STEM Ambassadors are an important and exciting resource for teachers and others engaging with young people inside and out of the classroom.

Mike Baldwin is Lead Mechanical Engineer at the National Nuclear Laboratory. He delivers this STEM Ambassador activity remotely over a video conferencing platform, contacting the school via the internet for both his initial meeting with the teacher and the session itself. Mike draws on his experience as an engineer to show how the work the students are currently doing in their D&T classes relates to real life engineering.
